Join the exciting choral program!
The Little Home Church by the Wayside has an exciting choral program for both adults and children. The Chancel Choir is comprised of about 16 to 20 church members including several high school and college students. The 8 to 12 members of our Children’s Choir are also an important part of our musical talents. No audition is required - just a love of singing and music. The Chancel Choir sings every Sunday from mid-September through early June. The Chancel Choir rehearses in the Sanctuary on Wednesday nights from 7:00 p.m. to about 8:30 p.m. Rehearsals include times of sharing and lots of laughs! The Children’s Choir practices right after our Sunday morning worship service and they sing four to five times each year.
The Chancel Choir sings one anthem each Sunday and we perform a cantata during the Advent Season, the Lenten Season. We have also participated in concerts with the acclaimed composer John Leavitt. Every May we culminate our Choir Season by a special worship service called Choir Recognition Sunday. Guest artists from the Chicagoland area frequently join us to celebrate the musical life of the Little Home Church.
New in 2011! Bell Choir
Through generous donations and the proceeds of the Wayne Community Concert series, we now have a new set of a three octave bells. Please consider sharing your musical talents by being a part of a bell choir.
THE ADULT HANDBELL CHOIR. The handbell choir is a great opportunity for adults to share instrumental music together. We are hoping to have many people who used to play in a band or orchestra come and share in this ensemble. We will practice once a month and then play in worship once a month. You don’t need to be a member of the church to join. However, participants should be 9th grade and older.
THE CHILDREN’S CHOIR AND BELL CHOIR will rehearse on Sunday mornings during Sunday School. We will learn to read notes and play hand bells this year. We will share our music in worship once a month. Come join the fun and bring a friend.

A new piano has been donated to the Little Home Church!
The Little Home Church has been gifted with a beautiful new Bluthner Grand Piano that was donated by Mrs. Betsey Bramsen. The piano is 6'-10" and has an ebony satin finish. Bluthner pianos are made in Leipzig, Germany. The company is still owned and operated by the Bluthner family. A limited number of instruments are made each year due to the amount of hand craftsmanship put into each piano. One of the most unique features is the addition of the fourth string on the treble notes that is never struck by the hammer, but vibrates sympathetically to the other tones. This gives the piano a unique "singing quality." Composers such as Wagner, Brahms, Debussy, and Lizst all composed at Bluthner pianos and Albert Einstein purchased a Bluthner piano to accompany his violin playing in his home. Corky Siegle and The Chamber Blues gave the first concert on our new piano at The Little Home Church on May 20, 2007. The piano was dedicated on Sunday, July 15, 2007.
